what is it

modified 03/30/98

the product operated network interface (poni) adds communications to various cutler-hammer products. with the addition of the poni card, the cutler-hammer device can communicate with a master control unit over an incom network. the poni can be easily mounted on the back of the cutler-hammer device and requires no external power. selectable communication rates of 1200 or 9600 baud is also available.

the incom product operated network interface (i-poni) was introduced on january 1, 1996 to replace the existing poni. the redesign of the poni introduced the ability to increase the communication cable configuration to support up to 1000 devices with up to 5 separate data lines, unlimited number of taps, and 10,000 feet of cable between longest runs. in addition, only 1 dip switch is required to configure the new i-poni and was placed next to the address wheels for easy access. with its introduction, a complete revision of the impacc wiring specification (td 17513, version 1.1) was released which reflected the new wiring rules.

the i-poni (style #8793c36g01) is replacing the old poni (style #5275c54g01). it is physically interchangeable with all poni modules.
