WHAT IS IT

Modified 09/23/98

The IQ Analyzer is a complete solution for users who want to monitor all aspects of their electrical distribution system. Based on input from customers and consultants, it provides extensive metering, power quality analysis, remote input monitoring, control relaying, analog input/outputs and communications capability.

Its high performance metering complies with the rigid ANSI C12.16 Class 10 accuracy specification for revenue meters, provides quality true rms readings through the 50th harmonic, accurately measures nonsinusoidal wave forms up to a 3.0 crest factor, and displays even and odd multiples of the fundamental current and voltage through the 50th harmonic. Both magnitude and phase angle of the harmonics are displayed.

The unique operator interface, which includes a gas plasma display, easy to use Meter Menu screens and detailed Analysis screens, is designed to allow a wealth of real time and recorded information to be accessed easily by an operator. All programming can be accomplished through the faceplate or the communications port. The on-line Help feature provides useful information on device operation, programming and troubleshooting.

Key Features

Complete power monitoring - The IQ Analyzer provides extensive metering, power quality analysis, and discrete and analog input/output capability ina fixed mounted package for continuous monitoring.

The IQ Analyzer monitors the following electrical parameters - currents, voltages, real, reactive, and apparent power and energy, demand, frequency, power factor, harmonic parameters including harmonic frequency magnitudes and phase angles, and offers extensive disturbance and event analysis capability.

Identify power system problems - The IQ Analyzer offers the ability to monitor and capture power system disturbances. The IQ Analyzer captures the actual current and voltage waveforms (including neutral and ground) to help troubleshoot voltage disturbances such as voltage sags and swells.

User friendly menu driven display - makes commonly viewed parameters easy to access and understand. Comprehensive harmonic and event data is also available via the big and bright display for immediate field viewing.

Ability to monitor motor starting inrush currents - The IQ Analyzer maintains current accuracy from 3-800% of the CT primary rating, thus allowing the IQ Analyzer to accurately dislay full motor starting inrush currents.

Continuous power quality monitoring can provide information to reduce costly outages - The IQ Analyzer provides extensive voltage and current harmonic distortion data up to the 51st harmonic providing information necessary to begin determining the source of power quality problems that may be causing costly power and production outages.

Prevent equipment damage by sizing equipment properly - The presence of harmonics can cause increased heating in equipment such as transformers, motors, and capacitors. The IQ Analyzer monitors harmonic distortion K-factor and crest factor which can provide information to determine if harmonics may be causing damage and shortening equipment life.

Highly accurate metering and power quality monitoring - The IQ Analyzer offers complete information to monitor electric energy providers for power quality and billing accuracy.

Determine the source of power system disturbances - Information available from strategically located IQ Analyzers can offer clues as to the source of power system disturbances such as voltage sags.

Extensive Input/Output capability - IQ Analyzer output relay contacts can be used to annunciate a remote alarm when a power quality event has occurred. In addition, the IQ Analyzer's available analog outputs can be scaled for use in an energy management scheme.

Application at any point in the electrical distribution system - The IQ Analyzer can be applied from 120V to 500kV and only needs to be applied with PT's above 600 Volts.

WHATS NEW

IQ Analyzer and IQ DP 4000 UPS Application Note:

There are applications in which is desirable to use an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) to provide backup power for metering. This is particularly true for the monitoring of critical loads via communications. Otherwise, it is impossible to tell whether the loss of communications is due to a power problem or a problem with the communications wiring itself. This application note helps specifiy a UPS for the IQ DP 4000 and the IQ Analyzer.

Portable Solutions:

We are pleased to announce the availability of a new Portable IQ Analyzer. This completely portable unit is a Model 6200 IQ Analyzer housed in a plastic resin case with the Analyzer face and voltage, current, and all other Input/Output connections flush mounted on a labeled plate. This portable unit is equipped with an assortment of connectors to facilitate connection to the voltage and current source. Style Number for the Portable IQ Analyzer is:

  • 4D13115G01, Catalog Number IQA6210PORT

New 6200 Series:

Another product breakthrough from the IQ family of metering products! In addition to waveform display at the device, the IQ Analyzer model 6200 now includes the ability to detect sub-cycle voltage disturbances. This unique feature is not available with any other comparable competitive meter. The sub-cycle voltage disturbance capability is only available in the Model 6200 Firmware Version 1.13 and later. All model 6200 IQ Analyzers currently stocked in the W34 warehouse include firmware version 1.14.

The IQ Analyzer Model 6200 with waveform display and sub-cycle voltage disturbance capture provides the capability to monitor harmonic parameters including harmonic voltage and current magnitudes and phase angles, and system disturbances including transient voltage disturbances and sub-cycle voltage interruptions.
